Wednesday 19 February, 2025, marked the first day for the newest members of the Communication for Social Change (CSC) community at The University of Queensland (UQ). They were welcomed to the School of Communication and Arts (SCA) in an Orientation for students enrolled in the Master of Communication. Together with students enrolled in the Strategic Communication field of study, CSC students were able to hear about planning and requirements related to their program.
Students also had the opportunity to hear from staff affiliated with the Centre for Communication and Social Change (CfCSC). Principal Centre Associate and theme leader for Communication Technologies, Associate Professor Pradip Thomas, spoke about CSC as a discipline and as a field of study. Other CfCSC Affiliates (and UQ SCA staff members) present were Professor Shuang Liu, Associate Professor Jane Johnston, Dr Aparna Hebbani, Dr Lemi Baruh, Dr Elena Block and Dr Kylie Navuku.
Many of the Affiliates are currently associated with one of the CfCSC themes: Engagement for SDGs (Dr Hebbani), Advocacy and the Public Good (Associate Professor Johnston, Dr Block), Communication Technologies (Associate Professor Thomas, Dr Baruh), Communication for Climate Action (Dr Navuku). See CfCSC themes for more information on each theme and the contact details for theme leaders.
