About the Centre for Communication and Social Change

Overview

The Centre for Communication and Social Change (CfCSC) specialises in the study and practical application of communication processes, techniques and media that are leveraged to bring about equitable change, social transformation and empowerment in society. The Centre is the only specialised academic institute in Australia to conduct research, offer a degree program and critically engage in this field.

Established in 2007 and currently based at the School of Communication and Arts, the Centre is staffed by an international group of researchers and practitioners who have global experience in development and communication matters, including with the UN, NGOs and government institutions. They undertake collaborative research, engage in CSC initiatives through consultancies, build capacity by convening postgraduate research and coursework programs, and foster public engagement with CSC concepts and approaches.

Particular processes the CfCSC specialises in include participatory program planning, evaluation and impact assessment; communication strategy development; facilitation; adult learning; participatory needs and opportunity assessments, and action research.
