Current Research Topic: Discursive practices of religious (in)tolerance within Indonesian on-line opinion websites

Achmad's research will investigate Seword.com and Eramuslim.com, which supported Non-Muslim and Muslim candidates respectively during the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. He will examine the religious tolerance discourses that appeared on these sites during and shortly after the election, which was highly divisive amongst the Jakarta residents because of the different identity representations of the two candidates. Achmad has a strong interest in the opinion websites, including Seword.com and Eramuslim.com which were used during this event because they establish fiery debates, create echo chambers and generally lack any enforced temperance.
