In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, the role of communication in fostering social change is more crucial than ever. Traditional research methodologies often fall to effectively address the nuanced, dynamic and sometimes contested nature of social change processes. A masterclass focused on critical methodologies in communication for social change research aims to equip participants with the insights and skills needed to critically analyse, engage with, and contribute to social change initiatives. The Masterclass is facilitated by Associate Professor Elske van de Fliert with presentations by Associate Professor Pradip Thomas and Professor Vinod Pavarala (Senior Professor in the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, India;UNESCO Chair on Community Media).
Objectives
Foster a critical awareness of the researcher’s role and the ethical implications of research in social change contexts.
Enhance participants’ skills to conduct research that critically examines communication processes and their impact on social change.
