Researcher biography
Carl Smith is a multi-award-winning Australian science journalist. Carl has worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for 13 years, making audio documentaries, podcast series, and written features with original photography. His work has been recognised by many of Australia’s top journalism prizes and internationally. He also co-hosts the popular and long-running ethics and philosophy podcast for children, Short and Curly. Carl is a PhD candidate in Digital Journalism at The University of Queensland, the Vice President of the Science Journalists Association of Australia, and is currently a European Journalism Fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin.
