Current Research Topic: Rural Community Radio for Women Empowerment in Kenya

The government of Kenya has been working towards bringing about social change, economic growth, human and political development to its people however, this has not been fully addressed. Gender discrimination has contributed to the slow growth of the country. Obstacles such as lack of information, illiteracy, and cultural barriers have hindered women empowerment in rural areas. Rural community radio is one method to relay information to empower women.  Recognising that there is a need to involve rural women in existing and potential development programs to foster empowerment, and that national government, county governments, and other agencies could provide more coordinated framework to reach out to all women to participate in the implementation of development programs, this research delves into the use of community radio as a tool of empowerment and social change.
